How Is Your Dental Implant?
You may wear dentures if you have bone loss, but still have common questions about dental implants? Not sufficient bone for implants? And think about stabilizing your dentures with dental implants. The method is known as tooth stabilization or implant over-dentures, and has helped many people regain their confidence in their abilities to eat, talk, and smile.
It is because your once comfortably fitting dentures can become loose and uncomfortable and often leads to a premature aging, sloppy look on the skin around the jowls.
This was a problem with the introduction of dental implants. However, technology has made a big difference over the last 30 years and now dental implants are possible for most patients who have suffered from bone loss.
In implantology, huge advantages mean that your jaw-bone can now be reconstructed in most cases. This is called a bone graft in the lower jaw, while the procedure is called a sinus elevator in the upper jaw.
A bone graft reconstructs the dental bone of your lower jaw and enhances the density of the dental implants by using donor bone from elsewhere in the mouth or from other source (which can be human, animal or synthetic). This usually adds some months to the treatment of the implants, but it pays off in the long term as it increases the chances of the success of your implants.
Zygomatic Implants
Zygomatic implants are dental implants placed in a separate area of the bone structure of the patient. While the bone loss may be too much to follow the conventional approach of implanting it in the bone just below the gum line, zygomatic implants simply place implants in a different place.
This is a fixed prosthesis for eligible patients that can be used to assist patients with bone loss. Patients wishing for dental implants may have learned that a series of bone grafts can be used to restore the bulk of the bone structure of someone, allowing the implantations to be placed after the operations are finished. Sadly, this usually involves several procedures that can lead to side effects and complications. Patients are offered an alternative choice of implants in the zygoma for the series of procedures required for surgical bone grafting.
Benefits
The introduction of this zygomatic implant offers numerous benefits. In this area of the face there is a lack of compression of the soft tissue, which means that the patient will find it much better than bone grafting. This is because the implants do not lean on the soft tissue to support structures and remove any other compressive factor. In addition, when someone speaks, the structural aid system won’t move.
